Goals
-
Alonzo wishes to see Newburgh become the
kind of town where people from other places look upon us as a small town
where they would love to live and raise their families. Not just for the
beautiful view of the river, but for all of the other things the town
has to offer. The historic buildings, the best schools and teaching
staff in the tri-state, summer and winter sports, great parks, the best
police and fire protection, and most of all the content of the character
of the citizens of his town.
-
He would like to see the population of
Newburgh become more diversified as for minorities living here and them
becoming more involved in what Newburgh has to offer.
-
He would also like to see more of the
citizens of Newburgh attend the open meetings at the town hall and
personally become more involved and he would like to have every citizen
in Newburgh registered to vote and then take advantage of that
opportunity.
-
Additionally Councilman Moore would like
to see greater participation by the local business owners at the
meetings as well.
-
Due to his extensive involvement with
the parks he would like to see more work done on the buildings at the
Old Lock & Dam Park as the Town has been trying to improve them but he
feels that more still needs to be done in this area.
-
Mr. Moore will also work for additional
improvements on our streets for those who both drive and walk in
Newburgh. To this end he would also like to see the Rivertown Trail
started and completed during his tenure on the council. Alonzo will
continue to work on the implementation of the Safe Ways To School
(sidewalk) Program started earlier this year for the safety of our
children.
-
He feels very fortunate to have been
serving on the Newburgh Town Council when the committees started and
finished the work on the Old Town Hall (Ebenezer Hall) and the (IHOP)-
Indian Hill Overlook Park.
-
Alonzo also feels that the Town needs to
consider annexation to be able to provide more and better coordinated
services to the residents of the Newburgh community.
-
There are other issues that need to be
considered for the improvement of our fire protection in and around
Newburgh, such as obtaining a grant to help pay for a badly needed new
fire truck with little or no cost to the town of Newburgh
-
Because this is his home he has always
loved Newburgh and has always worked as a team player to improve the
area. He has thoroughly enjoyed working with the members of the town
council, the town manager and all of the employees that he has had
contact.
-
Alonzo is always available to serve and
provide the commitment and leadership that the people of Newburgh
deserve, but he rightfully believes that no one person has all of the
right answers!
