Warrick County Coroner

Darrel Healy

trained, dedicated, experienced, & trusted

Candidate Bio

Darrel was born and raised in Warrick County and graduated from Castle High School in 1971. In 1992 he received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Indiana.

Darrel has been married for 36 years to Patti (an Alcoa employee) and has 2 daughters, 6 grandsons and 1 granddaughter.

He and Patti are members of Zion United Church of Christ in Newburgh where he has served on the church council.

He is a Sergeant with the Newburgh Police Department and a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy as a certified law enforcement officer and is a member of the Warrick County Fraternal Order of Police. Darrel served as Chief Deputy Coroner from 1998-2004 and is currently a part-time deputy coroner for Gibson County. He has previously been an IHSAA football and basketball official.

Darrel is a certified Medico-Legal Death Investigator as required by Indiana of all Coroners and deputy coroners. He has attended numerous training classes in the law enforcement field including criminal investigation, crime scenes, and evidence collection and preservation. He is a former State Certified and National Registered Emergency Medical Technician and has received training in the medical and surgical field while serving as an Emergency Medical Technician. All of these skills and knowledge are important for the Coroner to properly perform an investigation.

Goals

Sergeant Healy as Coroner will:

bulletRestore professional and ethical standards to the Coroner’s office.
bulletBring back fiscal responsibility and accountability to the taxpayers of Warrick County.
bulletReturn the working relationships with the local hospitals, law enforcement, EMS and county fire departments.
bulletExtend the compassion of the Coroner’s office to a grieving family and be responsive to their needs and requests
for information.

The Coroner’s office, and the public, deserves a Coroner that can and will provide the services required and requested of the office.

Darrel feels that the Coroner has neglected the needs and requests of the public, mismanaged taxpayer’s money, and released unauthorized confidential information. He also feels that the current Coroner has been involved in questionable activity, as well as been responsible for the unethical treatment of family’s loved ones and has jeopardized investigations due to a lack of proper training.

Darrel would like to ask for your support in the 2008 Warrick County Coroner's race and any support or time that can be provided would be greatly appreciated, including monetary donations, sign locations, or help working at the polls on election day.
