Bio
Eric Ellsperman has been a
resident of the Town of Newburgh for 14 years and has lived in the
Newburgh area for over 24 years. Eric has two sons Chris and
Spencer. Eric is a graduate of Vincennes University and currently
works as a Sales Account Manager.
Eric served as a member of the Newburgh Parks & Recreation Board for
over 8 years including serving as the Board's Vice President. He
currently holds the seat for District II of the Newburgh Town
Council after first being elected in 2006. In his elected role he
has served as the Council representative for the Parks & Recreation
Board, the Sewer Utility Board, the Newburgh Board of Aviation
Commissioners, and the Downtown Revitalization Committee, as well
as, the Chairman of the River Town Trail Committee.
Eric formerly was a member of Newburgh Junior Baseball where he was
selected as President of the Babe Ruth League. For the past 20 years
he has participated in numerous youth programs and community service
as a coach for both youth baseball and basketball teams in the
Newburgh area.
Goals
- Major Challenges
Eric has continued to offer ideas to help manage the Newburgh Town
and Utility budgets with increased attention, due to mandated budget
cuts in 2010. He and his council counterparts have worked to obtain
alternative funding resources through both public and private
sources to enable the implementation of projects outside of daily
operating expenses.
As councilman he has helped obtain funding for Newburgh's most
recent Storm Water Master Plan that was adopted earlier this year.
This project is a high priority for area residents. Serving as a
member of the Council this term has motivated Eric to evaluate
contractual services utilized by the Town and Sewer Utility in an
effort to promote economic development and stability within the Town
of Newburgh and the surrounding areas its utilities service.
Biggest Issues
The topic of focus he is most concerned with is the Newburgh Town
and Sewer Utility budgets. Eric is continuously looking for costs
saving measures to not only maintain the current level of service,
but also seeking creative ways to stay prepared for future needs.
He is involved in obtaining
additional funding opportunities for Storm Water Master Plan and
Town sidewalk redevelopment and construction. Another longer term
goal is to secure funding for the River Town trail's Phase III to
insure the future connection with Evansville Pigeon Creek Greenway,
another vital tool for promoting health and economic development.
Phase II is set for completion in fall 2010.
Major Differences Opponent
Eric is experienced as the current District II Councilman with a
proven track record of experience. He also is an individual who can
work well with residents, Town staff, and neighboring governments,
plus he is always open to seek information from other private
resources, enabling him to make positive decisions for the
enrichment of Newburgh.
Leading by example he has been extremely active in his community for
over 24 years and has persuaded other area residents to become
involved with Town projects and interests, by encouraging them to
offer their support by volunteering for some of the many Town boards
and committees. Most importantly, Eric always listens with an open
mind, looking for solutions in a timely manner while constantly
keeping economics and logistics of the project in mind.
Changes
He will seek an examination of contractual services (outsourcing)
and look to provide these services via Town staff. This will not
only save money but also offer those employees the authority to act
in the best interest of Newburgh and its residents.
Eric will work to establish additional advisory boards that will
compliment the current committees and volunteer boards. This will
enable more citizens to become involved with government not only
increasing involvement, but offering more fresh ideas, enabling the
town to access their professional backgrounds offering additional
advice and helping to further the upward successes of the Town of
Newburgh.
By working together through both community involvement and
government interaction, Newburgh is better able to preserve its
historic roots and maintain its well known quaint small-town
stature.
Eric has always felt it was important to persuade residents to
register and vote to ensure they have more of a voice and he will
continue those efforts among not only new residents but newly
eligible young voters.
Seeking Post
Eric will continue his efforts to represent the citizens of Newburgh
and the residents that access its extended services and facilities.
He will ensure that the Newburgh area's infrastructure is maintained
and enhanced with the best possible resources at the most reasonable
cost.
Eric has made the commitment during his current term to provide the
type of leadership that Newburgh residents have come to expect and
deserve from their elected Town Council Representatives and he will
continue the bi-partisan relationship that has existed among council
members, working together for common goals. He remains continually
sensitive to the issues of residents and is always able to translate
that information to Town staff, committees, and Town Council to
ensure they are resolved and implemented.
Eric will continue to work hard on your behalf and greatly
appreciates everyone's support who voted for in the past and he is
working hard to see that he earns the same support in November.
